This session will explore the unauthorized use of copyright-protected songs to train generative artificial intelligence models, aiming to produce music through the utilization of vocal clones (digital replicas of an artist’s voice). We will identify the main areas of copyright infringement associated with this practice and examine the enforcement approaches adopted by the music industry in response to this evolving landscape. Additionally, we will look at ways to address other enforcement challenges to ensure the effective protection of artists’ rights amidst the rapid progression of AI technologies.
