We organize meetings and seminars aimed at raising awareness in crucial policy areas and legislative options for national or regional IP laws. These events can also provide an opportunity to gather feedback from relevant stakeholders regarding, for example, existing laws or on-going policy reforms.
Tailor-made consultations can take place virtually, at WIPO HQ in Geneva, or in one of WIPO member states. The aim is to bring government officials and IP experts at WIPO together to work on key policy topics.
Legislative advice is provided in the areas of copyright, patents, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications, genetic resources, traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions,utility models, layout designs of integrated circuits, trade secrets andIP enforcement at the request of a member state or a regional intergovernmental organization. This advice is consistent with international legal obligations and tailored to specific needs and level of socio-economic development of the requesting party.

Taking account of specific national development needs and public policy environments, we assist in identifying IP strategies that can be adopted to support public policies in a way that is consistent with international obligations.
